Little Things

Here are a few of the little things that bring joy into my life:

This scene
Gilbert may not be the hay capital of the world anymore, but I do happen to live across the road from a hay field. Every once in a while, as I exit my neighborhood, I get so excited to see this truck parked in front of the hay bales. I don't exactly know why it makes me so happy, it just does. Maybe I have a weakness for trucks. And hay?

Chipotle Chips
The perfect amount of lime. The perfect compliment to any meal. Or the perfect meal by itself.
I may or may not be able to eat the whole bag by myself, especially since being taught the art of ripping the bag for easier access to the chips.

Copy Machines
I love the smell of freshly copied, warm papers. Also, I find so much satisfaction in grabbing a stack of papers at work, putting them in the copier, and when my copy job is finished, I discover that I grabbed EXACTLY the right number of papers!
(Don't be fooled into thinking I never get upset at the copy machine. )

Horchata
Cinnamony, ricey goodness.

Xcelerator
Who wouldn't want to see their skin flap in the outrageously powerful wind? And get their hands dry in the process?

Megamind
My new favorite movie. "Now, back to laughing." Hahaha!

Napster

" He said he named it 'Napster' because it was his nickname because of the nappy hair under the hat. But he lied, it's because I was NAPPING when he STOLE it from me!"

Last Friday, I drove up to my grandpa's house with my awesome Cuz and Sista Sista. I love seeing my grandpa, but I don't love staying at his house. Why not? Well, the beds are older than I am. Therefore, I didn't sleep all night. I was more than delighted to get up at 6:30am for breakfast because it meant my night of torture was over.

Fortunately, I was exhausted enough a few hours later to take a nice little nap. And naptime means dream time. One dream involved going sledding. Without snow. It didn't go over very well. The boy scouts that were there still made an attempt at it, though. Gotta love boy scouts.

In my other dream, I was in an airport and overheard a woman speaking to her daughter about the Mormons. I jumped right in and asked them if they wanted to know more about the Mormon church. They answered in the affirmative and I explained that the church's name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but we are called "mormons" because of the Book of Mormon. I grabbed my copy out of my backpack to give it to them. She started looking thumbing through the pages and said, 'Umm...this is my Bible." Oops. I must have grabbed it on accident. I tried again and pulled out another book. I tried once more, but still couldn't get a Book of Mormon to give her. I decided that it wasn't meant to be, so I chose to direct her to mormon.org instead. And what do you know-my pen wouldn't work, so I couldn't write the url for her. I hope that when I try to share the gospel in real-life, I won't have so many disruptions.

Come and knock on our door...

As I was driving the other day, I was passed by a truck similar to the one below. The main difference, though, was that the back tire was missing (the one my handy yellow arrow is pointing to). The one lonely tire on the right side looked pretty awkward. I wanted to take a picture, but he sped away too quickly. I'm not sure why he was in such a hurry. He was probably going to get a new tire.

Speaking of third wheels, I invited myself to join my sis and bro-in-law to go to the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum). Right away, we formed a family band with matching guitars.

Then, I fulfilled my life-long dream to play a harp.

There were plenty of great instruments on display, but my favorite was the air guitar, as pictured in its case below. The plaque next to it read that it was made of:
Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Dreams.

The main reason we went that evening was to see Camaron's favorite band,
What Laura Says.

It's still unclear who Laura is, but if I had to guess, I'd say she says, "Put on a great show."
And they did.

May Contain Awesome

Dear person who created the virus that wiped all the files off my computer,

Thank you so much for taking so much of your own precious time to infect my laptop. I just feel bad that you didn't get anything out of the deal. I mean, I can tell you put a lot of effort in on your part, but what did you get out of it? Hopefully you invested in data recovery programs or something of that sort. I, on the other hand, benefited so much from the deal.

1. In attempts to fix my computer, my computer savvy brother had to load Windows 7 on it. So long Vista. It was nice knowing you. Not really.

2. I ordered an external hard drive from newegg.com and yesterday this box arrived.

Those nerds are so clever.

3. I got to watch my 4-year old friend, Alex, play with the packing peanuts.

4. There is a ton of free space on my computer that I can fill with whatever I want.

5. My desktop is clutter free, as pictured below.

6. Windows 7 has a snipping tool, so that I can snip pictures like the one above. I'm glad that Windows finally caught on. I used to have to use my Mac at work if I ever want to capture just part of the screen.

Try not to be too jealous. I know that I am very lucky and not all the people you attack come out so well. I'll be spreading the word so that they back up all their files. Have a nice day and good luck with coming up with some more productive hobbies to keep yourself occupied.

Sincerely,
Bethany

Bun in the Oven

Yesterday, I watched part of a movie where a girl pretends to be pregnant so that this guy will marry her. I got about half way through and decided that it was dumb and turned it off. Instead, I watched an episode of The Cosby Show. Dr. Huxtable missed accepting his Physician of the Year award because he had to deliver a baby. Talk about a great physician.

Naturally, I had a dream that I was pregnant. I was married, but I never saw my husband. (Man!) My sister was pregnant too, but she wasn't as far along as me. She thought that she was having labor pains, but it was too soon for her. We all hoped it would wait a few more weeks so her baby wouldn't have so many health challenges. I then started feeling like my baby was coming. It was also apparently the first day that my stomach was actually showing. I was really excited about this and had my mom take a picture of me. When I told my family it was time, they quickly rushed me to a hotel. I'm not sure why a hotel. We were all there in the lobby and I never went into a hotel room. Several strange things happened while we were in the lobby. We had called for some man to help me out, but whoever made the phone call actually called a stripper by mistake. I saw him walk into the hotel and up to my room, where nobody was waiting for him, thankfully. The lobby also temporarily transformed into a clothing store, where we all tried to find some new clothes. I had some more pains throughout my dream, but the baby never came.

The Tunnel of Gross

Prepare yourselves for a totally random dream. Even for me, this one is pretty strange. Here it goes:

I was driving down the freeway and the road morphed into a tunnel that was an exact replica of what it would look like inside someone's mouth. As I kept driving, it was like I was driving down the esophagus and towards the intestines. Gross. The walls of the tunnel were all pinkish and there were obstacles in the middle of the road so all the cars had to slow down. Plus, I wasn't sure if the road was divided or not, so I was hesitant to drive on the left side of the throat. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you want a visual, you could watch this nasty clip that I show my students in science class. It makes me want to gag every time that I see it. Yet, I still keep watching it.

Next, I reached my destination, which was Bath and Body Works. I was smelling some soap when my coworker walked by and make a comment about how huge the zit on the side of my face is. She called it a clever name, but it escapes me now. (There really is a huge zit on the side of my face, if you were wondering).

The scene changed a bit and now I was working in the store. I was notified that a customer was coming to get some new Barbie clothes. I thought I could help by getting some ready for her. I picked out a few shirts and some pants and then I chose some cute underwear for her. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if they really even sell Barbie underwear. After I had a pretty nice wardrobe started, I realized that they probably wanted to pick out their own clothes and I put them all back.

There's a Nightmare in my Closet

I've been watching old, scary movies lately with Tina, Robyn, and Sarah. Mostly I watch them because Robyn and Sarah scream their heads off the whole time. It's quite entertaining. Sorry, girls. It's true. I'm not sure if I can keep it up, though, because I'm starting to have scary dreams.

In my dream last night, I was coming home and I noticed these 3 guys at my neighbor's house. They were in their twenties and one of them was even pretty good looking. Next thing I knew, Good Looking Guy was pulling pantyhose over his head and I immediately knew I was in trouble. I'm not really sure why he put them on, since I'd already seen what he looked like. ??

I tried screaming, but my voice wasn't cooperating. The three bad guys were very pleased that I had lost my ability to scream. They asked if any of my roommates were home. I lied and said that one of them was, but she was taking a nap upstairs. I kept thinking about how easy it would be for them to steal my TV since it was still in the box. Suddenly I could scream again. Yay! Unfortunately, the only people who heard me were my neighbors that didn't speak English. I ran towards them and used my best sign language to tell them I needed to use their phone.

Inside their house, I called the Police Department on my cell phone and 911 on their house phone. Not sure why I needed to borrow their phone if I had my own the whole time. Anyway, I was holding both phones up to my ears simultaneously. The Police Dept. didn't answer, but 911 did. The weird thing was that they didn't ask for any information. They just told me that they had the situation under control. I thought that maybe I wasn't actually calling 911 because it seemed pretty fishy to me. So, I had my neighbor double check that there were cops outside my house. I guess he learned English real quick because he understood me and then confirmed that there were indeed police officers all over the street. Then I woke up.

Are you happy now Dad that I finally posted? Hopefully now that I am done vacationing I can get back to a normal sleep routine and keep the dreams coming.
